The Indian Space Research Organization ISRO has scheduled the launch of the INSAT-3DR satellite on board the launch vehicle GSLV-F05 on September 8.

The satellite will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikotta. The INSAT-3DR is a modern weather satellite weighing 2211 kilogram during lift off.

The rocket GSLV-F05 has an indigenously developed cryogenic engine. It is set to put the payload into a geostationary orbit.

The satellite INSAT-3DR with a mission duration of 8 years has sophisticated equipment to help predict weather patterns and also provide search and rescue information.

» The SCATSAT-1  satellite is scheduled for launch during Second Half of September from SDSC SHAR , Sriharikota.

About SCATSAT-1:

• SCATSAT-1 is a continuity mission for Oceansat-2 Scatterometer to provide wind vector data products for weather forecasting, cyclone detection and tracking services to the users.

• The satellite carries Ku-band scatterometer (is a microwave radar sensor which measures the reflection (or scattering effect) produced while scanning the surface of the Earth from an aircraft or a satellite. ).

• The mass of the spacecraft is 360 kg. The spacecraft will be put in SSP (Space Solar Power) orbit of 720 km altitude by PSLV-C35.

• The mission life of the satellite is 5 years.
