‘Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav – 2016’-Prelims-2017

‘Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav – 2016’ a celebrated festival organised by the Ministry of Culture, successfully progressed in to Day-3, highlighting India’s rich heritage. The glorious carnival that initially began on 15thOctober at the IGNCA campus, Janpath, New Delhi, will continue to mesmerize the audience through power- packed performances, art & culture, food and shopping joys till 24th October, 2016.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY:

  • Stage performance by Dr. Padma Subramaniam, acclaimed Bharatnatyam danseuse
  • Martial arts and dance forms such as ‘KathiSamu’ and ‘karasamu’ from Andhra Pradesh
  • ‘MappilaKolkali’ and ‘Margam dance’ from Kerala
  • ‘Kai Silambam’ from Puducherry
  • ‘Devarattam’ from Tamil Nadu
  • ‘Lava dance’ from Lakshadweep,
  • Other dance forms including ‘Lava dance’, ‘Karagam’, ‘Dummy horse dance’ and more mesmerized the connoisseurs of tradition art
  • Shopping stalls displayed ‘Kalamkari’ sarees, ‘Chennapattna’ wooden craft, Tanjore paintings, Bronze icons, ‘Ikat’ sarees, Jute durries and more

  • SirmouriNati,GaddiNati (Himachal Pradesh)
  • Sammi, Bhangra (Punjab)
  •  Chhapeli (Uttarakhand)
  • Dhamal, Shiv Stuti, Jangam-Jogi (Haryana)
  • Kalbelia, Angiger (Rajasthan)
  • Langa-Mangniar singers (Rajasthan), Folk/Sufi singers of Kashmir, Sh. Gulzar Ahmad Gani & Zulekha Bano.
