Saras completes second test flight successfully

Context:

India’s indigenous light transport aircraft SARAS has been successfully test flown for a second time.

About SARAS:

  • The SARAS is an indigenous aircraft developed by the National Aeronautics Laboratories (NAL), which is overseen by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR).
  • The aircraft programme is named after Indian crane Saras.
  • IAF is committed to test and thereafter induct the first indigenously designed and manufactured Light Transport Aircraft. IAF is fully supporting this programme and the design and configuration of the new version of SARAS would be frozen soon.
