What is ‘patriotic correctness’ in politics?

  • Also known as Conservative correctness, this refers to the restriction of controversial speech or opinion on issues that are generally considered to be beyond question by the political right.
  • It is a form of political correctness but biased in favour of right-wing preferences instead of the political left.
  • Patriotic correctness is thus considered by many to be the right-wing’s own form of political correctness. The term is usually used to describe the shutting down of criticism of national symbols like flags and anthems, policies like immigration and non-aggressive foreign policy, and modern attacks on traditional beliefs and principles.
